Craig Melvin enthusiastically supported his "Today" co-host Sheinelle Jones' new book, "Through Mom's Eyes: Simple Wisdom From Mothers Who Raised Extraordinary Humans." He posted on Instagram on April 14, calling the book beautiful and expressing his pride in Jones. Melvin described Jones as a "big sister" and anticipated the book would positively impact many.
The book, released on April 14, compiles stories and lessons from the mothers of celebrities like Lady Gaga and Stephen Curry. The project, initially conceived in 2020, faced delays due to the fatal cancer battle of Jones' husband, Uche Ojeh, who passed away in May 2025 at age 45 from Glioblastoma.
Jones shared that the book became more than a guide, empowering her through her own experiences. She hopes readers, including mothers, aunts, grandmothers, and teachers, will be touched by the shared wisdom. Jones and Uche, married for 18 years, had three children: Kayin, Clara, and Uche. They met at Northwestern University in the late '90s.
