Craig Ferguson: I Wouldn't Have Handled Trump Era Late Night

Craig Ferguson recently shared his thoughts on the evolution of late-night television, especially in the context of the Trump era. The former host of The Late Late Show expressed uncertainty about how he would have managed the contemporary political landscape during his tenure.

Ferguson, who hosted from 2005 to 2014, acknowledged that comedy and timing are crucial. He mentioned staying on air longer than expected due to financial incentives but ultimately felt it was time to move on.

He considers himself an outsider in the late-night world, having not grown up with the archetype of a desk-bound host. Ferguson explained that his show operated independently from CBS, largely due to being under David Letterman's production company.

This independence, he believes, allowed for a unique freedom that would be difficult to replicate today. Ferguson never felt he was part of the traditional late-night host fraternity, often stating his show wasn't a typical late-night talk show.
