Courteney Cox, now famous for her "Friends" role, began her acting career with lesser-known parts, including a role in the 1985 NBC series "Misfits of Science." The show explored a team of superhumans assembled by research scientist Dr. Billy Hayes.
Operating under the defense contractor Humanidyne Institute, the team was initially tasked with protecting individuals with superpowers. However, when their boss sought to weaponize the team, Dr. Hayes intervened. He formed the "Misfits of Science" to expose the institute.
Cox portrayed Gloria Dinallo, a telekinetic teen. Other characters included Dr. Elvin "El" Lincoln, who could shrink, and "Johnny B" Bukowski, a musician with electrical powers. The series' pilot also featured Beef Beifneiter, who could create ice, but this character was soon removed, allegedly due to potential legal issues with Marvel Comics.
