Summary
- Actress Tatiana Maslany stars in horror film 'Keeper' about a couple's haunted vacation
- Director Osgood Perkins created the film during the 2023 Hollywood writers' and actors' strikes
- Maslany describes experiencing "what the f---" moments during the filmmaking process

In the latest horror film 'Keeper' from director Osgood Perkins, actress Tatiana Maslany plays Liz, a woman who rents a cabin in the woods with her partner for an anniversary trip. However, the getaway takes a nightmarish turn when her partner abruptly leaves, leaving Liz alone to face a sinister supernatural entity.
Perkins and his crew developed 'Keeper' in 2023 during the Hollywood writers' and actors' strikes, which forced them to change their original plans to make a different film. With limited time and resources, they settled on a single-location cabin horror with a small cast, including Maslany and Rossif Sutherland.
Maslany describes experiencing several "what the f---" moments throughout the filmmaking process as the movie evolved, particularly in post-production when the final tone and music came together. She was surprised by the final result, which explores "hot-button topics like toxic masculinity or the patriarchy" through a supernatural lens.
Despite the challenges, Perkins and his team were able to keep people working during the industry's difficult strike period. The director says 'Keeper' stems from a desire to make a "relationship horror movie" that uses the monster as a metaphor for larger societal issues.
