As of November 13, 2025, one-third of the top 10 on Billboard's Country Digital Song Sales chart is composed of AI-generated or AI-assisted tracks, including "Walk My Walk" by Breaking Rust and several songs by Cain Walker.
While these AI-powered tunes are finding commercial success, selling thousands of copies, the country music industry remains wary of the potential impact on the genre's core values of authenticity and the trusted connection between artists and fans. Country radio consultants and industry experts warn that listeners are likely to react negatively to the idea of AI voices on their stations, as the human element is seen as essential to the genre.
"Listeners don't like the idea of AI voices, so by association, I don't think they'd like the music," says country radio consultant Joel Raab. The concern is that the proliferation of AI-assisted acts could erode the trust that country music has built with its dedicated fanbase, who crave the "human mistakes" and personal stories that add soul to the music.
However, industry leaders remain optimistic that the authenticity and evolution of human artists will ultimately prevail. "Looking ahead, the realness of human music with heart and human soul will win every time," predicts Raab. Leslie Fram of FEMco agrees, noting that "true superfans bet on humans who evolve with them. AI might open doors, but only flesh-and-blood keeps 'em coming back for encores."
