In October 2025, acclaimed country music songwriter Shane McAnally and his husband Michael Baum welcomed their third child, a baby boy named Texson Ray McAnally Baum. The newborn, who weighed 8 lbs. 10 oz., was born via surrogate in the early hours of Sunday, Oct. 26, in San Diego, California.
Texson is the couple's third child, joining their 12-year-old twins, daughter Dylan and son Dash. McAnally, who has written and/or produced more than 50 No. 1 country songs, says the family was "instantly in love" with the new addition. "He's just perfect in every way," the 51-year-old songwriter tells PEOPLE exclusively.
The couple, who recently moved from Nashville to Santa Barbara, California, in late 2023, had long wanted to expand their family. McAnally says the move and their desire to "nest" made them feel the time was finally right. "Michael always says, 'Things grow here,' and so we just wanted to expand the love," he explains.
