Costa Rica: Spotlight at Puerto Rico Film Fest

The 17th Puerto Rico Film Festival, set to run from August 19-23, has designated Costa Rica as its inaugural country of honor. This significant choice aims to enhance artistic and industry collaboration between the two territories. The festival will feature a dedicated showcase of contemporary Costa Rican cinema and host a delegation of filmmakers.

This initiative underscores the festival's commitment to building stronger connections within the Caribbean and Latin American film sectors. Costa Rica's Film Commissioner, Marysela Zamora-Villalobos, will participate in industry events focusing on international partnerships and production incentives.

Costa Rica's audiovisual sector has experienced considerable expansion over the past decade. The country has also become attractive for international productions, offering significant tax rebates and incentives, which have led to increased investment in its film industry.
