The Confluence Creative Arts Center is set to host its annual Art in the Park event on August 29, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Confluence bandstand. This year's celebration holds special significance as the community continues to recover from extensive flooding that occurred on August 11, causing damage to homes, businesses, and the Arts Center.
The event offers a free, drop-in experience with numerous art activity stations suitable for all ages and abilities. Visitors can engage in creative endeavors such as cyanotypes, mask decoration, painting, building rainsticks, and exploring an Instrument Petting Zoo. The day will also feature performances by O'Ryan the O'mazing, a community market, and a unique Rain Poetry Reveal, where children's poems will be magically unveiled.
Art in the Park embodies the Arts Center's mission to foster family-friendly community engagement and creative interaction. The Confluence Creative Arts Center is also actively fundraising to aid in flood recovery efforts. Support for the event is partly provided by the 1889 Foundation, enabling accessible arts experiences for the region.
