Composer Dhirendra Mulkalwar's journey with the film "Hanuman Ansh" began unexpectedly after a visit to Neem Karoli Baba's Kainchi Dham ashram in April 2026. This pilgrimage preceded director Vishal Chaturvedi's offer to score the spiritual leader's biopic, an opportunity Mulkalwar found miraculous.
The film's signature song, "Siyavar Ramchandra Ki Jai," was not initially planned but arose organically while Mulkalwar composed the background score for a scene depicting Neem Karoli Baba aiding a revolutionary. This spontaneous creation, blending patriotism and spiritualism, was later featured in the trailer and developed into a full song.
Mulkalwar's connection to Neem Karoli Baba dates back over a decade to 2010, stemming from his curiosity sparked by a video of Baba's disciple, Ram Dass. The film "Hanuman Ansh," released in August 2026, has since found a wide audience, extending its theatrical run and achieving global distribution.
Growing up with limited resources in Chandrapur, Maharashtra, Mulkalwar pursued music against the odds, inspired by his guru and elder brother. After studying audio engineering and working in radio, he composed over 500 ad jingles before focusing on film scores like "Uri: The Surgical Strike" and "Article 15."
