Hannah had previously posted on her TikTok Story on October 21, 2026, following the release of Collin's memoir, claiming a near year-long silence between them. She also indicated a relationship with their mother and other siblings, while distancing herself from comments about Collin's behavior or their shared childhood.

Collin perceived Hannah's statement as echoing their mother's words, particularly the latter part. He expressed that Hannah appears to be caught in a difficult position, which he empathizes with, having experienced the struggle for sibling relationships himself. Collin's memoir details his upbringing on the reality series "Jon & Kate Plus 8" and touches upon his estrangement from their mother, Kate Gosselin, whom he accused of physical abuse and confinement.

Collin spent two years in a behavioral facility starting in 2016, claiming his mother admitted him to silence him about alleged abuse. Kate Gosselin denied this, stating it was for dangerous behavioral issues. After his release, his father, Jon Gosselin, gained custody, and Hannah chose to live with him. Collin has been largely estranged from most of his siblings since then.

During his television appearance, Collin addressed whether his mother manipulates Hannah's relationships with their other siblings. He spoke about his childhood struggle for his mother's approval and the difficulty of believing negative things about a parent.
