Rare Coldplay Demos, Including Bond Track, Up for Grabs

A significant archive of early Coldplay recordings is now available at auction, offering a rare look into the band's foundational period before their global breakthrough. The collection primarily stems from the formative sessions that shaped their debut album, 'Parachutes'.

This trove of material, largely compiled by producer Chris Allison, centers on Coldplay's 'Blue Room' sessions at London's Orinoco Studios. It includes alternate mixes, studio tapes, and demos that were instrumental in crafting their early sound. The archive provides a unique window into the creation of music that would later define their career.

Among the highly sought-after items are previously unheard recordings and alternate takes of album tracks. One particularly intriguing piece is an acoustic demo Chris Martin recorded in 1999 as a pitch for the title song of the James Bond film, 'The World Is Not Enough'. Although Garbage ultimately provided the official theme, this demo represents a fascinating piece of Coldplay's history.

The auction, hosted by Wax Poetics, concludes on Sunday, July 19. Chris Allison expressed his hope that these historical musical artifacts will be cherished by fans rather than remaining in storage, emphasizing their value as pieces of music history.
