Homi Adajania's romantic drama 'Cocktail 2' is approaching the significant Rs 100 crore domestic box office milestone. The film, starring Shahid Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, and Kriti Sanon, garnered Rs 47.50 crore net during its opening weekend. Its initial week concluded with a strong Rs 70.50 crore net.
However, its theatrical run faced challenges with the release of 'Welcome to the Jungle,' impacting screen availability. Despite this, 'Cocktail 2' managed to grow by 3.5% on its second Sunday (Day 10), collecting Rs 4.40 crore net, bringing its total to Rs 83.15 crore net in India.
As the film enters its second week, a consistent weekday collection of Rs 1.5-2.5 crore is projected to elevate its total past Rs 90 crore. The Rs 100 crore mark is expected to be reached within two and a half to three weeks of its release, even with new releases like 'Main Vaapas Aaunga' also in contention.
The movie's plot follows college sweethearts Kunal (Shahid Kapoor) and Diya (Rashmika Mandanna) whose relationship faces a crisis during a Sicilian vacation, with the introduction of Ally (Kriti Sanon). The film's narrative unfolds against the backdrop of London and Cape Town.
