The film, written and directed by Amy Heckerling, is a teen comedy loosely based on Jane Austen's 1815 novel 'Emma'. It follows a popular high school student who engages in matchmaking and self-discovery. Heckerling meticulously studied Beverly Hills High School students to authentically capture teenage dialogue and slang from the 1990s.
'Clueless' has since garnered a significant cult following and continues to influence pop culture, spawning a television sitcom and a series of books. Silverstone, who made her film debut in 1993, also gained prominence through music videos and other film roles, including Batgirl in 'Batman & Robin'. Her most recent acting credit is in the 2023 film 'A Merry Little Ex-Mas'.
