Clint Boon: Noel Gallagher Auditioned for Inspiral Carpets

Clint Boon, the iconic frontman of Inspiral Carpets, has shared intriguing details about the early days of Oasis. Boon recalled that Noel Gallagher auditioned to be the band's singer in December 1988, prior to Oasis' formation. Although Gallagher's voice was not what they sought for the frontman role, he joined the band as their roadie and general helper for the following four years. Boon described Gallagher as loyal and possessing a great sense of humor during this period.

Boon also touched upon his relationships with both Noel and Liam Gallagher. He noted that Liam was initially quiet before transforming into the charismatic frontman of Oasis. Boon admitted he initially thought the band name 'Oasis' was a poor choice. He also reflected on the band's recent reunion tour, predicting it would happen as long as their mother was alive. Boon also spoke about his friendship with Prime Minister Andy Burnham, whom he considers a good listener and a potential great leader.

The Inspiral Carpets frontman also paid tribute to his late friend, Mani, guitarist for The Stone Roses and Primal Scream. Boon described losing Mani as a significant blow, remembering his vibrant spirit and distinctive laugh despite his long-term health issues. Boon emphasized the enduring legacy of Mani's music and presence. He also praised Manchester as a magical and supportive place that has enabled his long career in music, expressing his continued dedication to creating and performing music.
