Hart, who was the lead in the show from 1991 to 1994, explains that while she was treated like a star on the soundstage, with the crew catering to her requests, she also wanted to "hang with the cool guys" by drinking beers.

However, the older crew members, who were in their early 20s, refused to provide the 16- or 17-year-old Hart with alcohol, despite her persistent demands. The crew, which Hart describes as "her guys," protected her and did not give in to her requests, even though she just wanted to "hold the beer" to feel cool.

Hart's experience on the Clarissa Explains It All set contrasts with the recent revelations about the "toxic culture" on some Nickelodeon shows in the 1990s and 2000s. The actress says she was "protected" by her crew, who looked after her and did not let her engage in any inappropriate behavior, even when she wanted to.
