The Montpellier Mediterranean Film Festival (Cinemed) and the Arab cinema platform Aflamuna have revealed the selection for their fifth project incubator event, set to occur in October 2026. This initiative, branded the Aflamuna x Cinemed Encounters, champions Arab filmmakers from across the Middle East and Africa, presenting seven distinct projects.
The selection includes compelling documentaries and narrative features. Among them is 'Disappeared,' focusing on five Syrian women searching for their missing sons and husbands under the Bashar Al-Asaad regime. Another highlighted project is Palestinian director Wisam Al Jafari's 'The Hearse to the Final House of Happiness,' which follows a mental patient on a brief leave for a family wedding.
Launched in 2021, the joint incubator aims to support filmmakers from 22 Arab territories. Participants will attend Cinemed's professional days from October 20 to 22, 2026, to engage with industry professionals. Cinemed itself runs from October 16 to 24, 2026.
