Varanasi's Soul Captured: Cinematographer's Vision

Cinematographer Faiz Siddik discussed the audience's positive reception to the visual depiction of Varanasi in 'Chinna Chinna Aasai'. He shared that the intention was to portray the city as a place of purity, spirituality, and divine presence. The team focused on emphasizing Varanasi's timeless beauty, consciously framing shots to omit distractions like litter and reflect an idealized, serene vision of the city.

Siddik highlighted that emotional storytelling remains paramount, with visuals serving to deepen emotion rather than exist solely for aesthetic appeal. He noted that in 'Chinna Chinna Aasai,' Varanasi acted as a backdrop for the central love story, with the characters' emotional journeys taking priority. A memorable experience for Siddik was spending pre-dawn hours alone on the ghats, absorbing the city's atmosphere to infuse his creative process and subsequently influence the film's visual language.
