A remarkable collection of designer clothing worn by beloved entertainer Cilla Black throughout her career has successfully raised over £40,000 for Variety, the Children's Charity. The auction, featuring 246 outfits, saw enthusiastic bidding for bespoke gowns, high-end fashion pieces, and iconic vintage creations. All items found buyers, exceeding expectations and demonstrating the enduring appeal of Black's style.
The proceeds are a significant contribution to the children's charity, which Cilla Black actively supported during her lifetime. Her son, Robert Willis, explained the decision to donate the collection was to commemorate the 10th anniversary of her passing. He highlighted that most garments were worn on stage or television, representing a life dedicated to performance.
Among the highlights was a turquoise dress from the 1969 Royal Variety Performance, the first broadcast in full colour, and a Thea Porter dress worn during her iconic performance of 'Bring me Sunshine' on the Morecambe & Wise Show. A red jumpsuit from the mid-80s also significantly surpassed its estimate, underscoring the strong interest in Black's memorable wardrobe.
