Comedian Paul Elliott, renowned as one half of the Chuckle Brothers, is set to undertake a significant UK tour next month to support Marie Curie's vital fundraising efforts. The 78-year-old entertainer will travel from John O'Groats to Land's End, aiming to raise £40,000 for the charity.
Elliott's expedition coincides with the 40th anniversary of the Great Daffodil Appeal, Marie Curie's largest annual fundraiser. He will be using the 'Daff Bike,' a specially branded two-seater pedal car reminiscent of the one featured in the TV show ChuckleVision. Elliott expressed pride in his role as an ambassador for the organization.
His involvement is deeply personal, as Marie Curie provided end-of-life care for his brother, Barry, who passed away in 2018. Elliott emphasized the critical importance of the Great Daffodil Appeal in ensuring individuals receive the best possible end-of-life care. The tour is scheduled to commence on March 3rd, with planned stops in various cities before concluding on March 11th.
Marie Curie's CEO, Matthew Reed, highlighted that a significant number of individuals die without the necessary end-of-life care each day. He thanked Paul Elliott for his commitment and acknowledged the unwavering support from the charity's volunteers and the public over the past four decades.
