Nolan Terrified of Rom-Coms, Prefers Horror

Filmmaker Christopher Nolan, celebrated for directing a wide array of films from science fiction epics like "Interstellar" to historical dramas such as "Oppenheimer," has identified romantic comedies as a genre he finds particularly daunting.

During a recent appearance, Nolan shared that he would be "terrified" to direct a rom-com, citing the inherent risk and vulnerability involved in making people laugh. He contrasted this with his own directorial work, where he feels he can attribute audience non-response to a lack of understanding rather than a failure of the comedy itself.

Conversely, Nolan expressed significant enthusiasm for exploring the horror genre. He indicated that elements within his recent project have heightened his interest in directing a horror film. However, he stressed that any foray into horror must be conceptually driven, prioritizing a compelling story over technical execution.
