Chris Sussman Takes Helm of BBC Comedy

Chris Sussman is set to take over as the BBC's Director of Comedy next month, succeeding Jon Petrie. Sussman brings extensive experience from previous roles as Director of Scripted Series at Netflix UK and as the Head of Comedy at BBC Studios. He will be responsible for managing a significant budget and commissioning a slate of comedy programs, including upcoming shows like 'Bill's Included' and 'Reluctant Vampire'.

During his tenure at Netflix, Sussman worked on notable series such as 'Baby Reindeer' and 'Black Mirror'. His earlier work at BBC Studios involved overseeing popular comedies like 'This Country' and 'Inside No 9'. Sussman also secured commissions for major streaming platforms like Apple TV and Prime Video. He will report to BBC Chief Content Officer Kate Phillips, aiming to define the future of British comedy.
