Nawazuddin's co-star slams follower-based casting

Actress Chitrangada Satarupa is experiencing a significant personal and professional milestone, having welcomed her son, Anhad, on March 27, just weeks before her film "Main Actor Nahin Hoon" is set to release on May 8. This film marks her theatrical Hindi debut and sees her sharing the screen with veteran actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui. Satarupa recounted the challenges of her role, particularly the initial awkwardness of portraying a nasty character towards Siddiqui, whom she greatly admires. The shooting process, conducted remotely between Mumbai and Frankfurt via video calls, presented unique theatrical demands.

Satarupa also voiced strong criticism regarding the trend of casting actors based on their social media following. She argued that Instagram follower counts are often irrelevant to a person's ability to act or a film's success. She highlighted how this practice can overlook genuinely talented artists. The actress also shared her positive experiences working with director Aditya Kripalani, her collaborator on previous projects, including her first Hindi film "Tikli And Laxmi Bomb."
