The acclaimed Teochew-dialect family drama, "Dear You," has achieved significant box office success in China, accumulating more than $251 million locally. This cultural phenomenon is now expanding its reach to international markets.
CMC Pictures has acquired the theatrical distribution rights for "Dear You," bringing the film to North America, Australia, and New Zealand. The movie is scheduled to open in Australia and New Zealand on June 25, 2026, followed by a North American release on June 26, 2026.
"Dear You" delves into the poignant themes of migration, memory, and intergenerational belonging, rooted in the history of "qiaopi," the letters and remittances exchanged by overseas Chinese migrants. The film achieved its remarkable success on a modest budget, without relying on major stars or spectacle.
This expansion follows earlier distribution deals, with Trinity CineAsia handling the UK, Ireland, and France, and Damai Entertainment coordinating releases in Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore, Malaysia, and Brunei starting June 18, 2026.
