Summary
- Ashlei Sharpe Chestnut confirmed her departure from Chicago Med.
- Producers stated her exit was not intended and her story would expand.
- Other One Chicago series also face cast and showrunner changes.

Ashlei Sharpe Chestnut, known for her role as Naomi, has confirmed her departure from the NBC series Chicago Med ahead of its twelfth season. Chestnut, who joined the show in its ninth season, responded to fan inquiries on TikTok, stating she would not be returning. This news follows earlier concerns that her character might have been written out permanently after a period of absence in season 11.
Executive producer Allen MacDonald clarified that Chestnut's exit was unintentional. He stated that the production team loves her performance and always planned for her return, with her absence attributed to storyline shifts involving another character's departure. MacDonald hinted at future plans to further develop Naomi's character arc within the series.
Chestnut's departure is not an isolated incident within the One Chicago universe. Joe Miñoso is expected to have a reduced role in Chicago Fire season 15, and Dermot Mulroney is also leaving that series after a brief reappearance. Furthermore, Andrea Newman has stepped down as showrunner for Chicago Fire after more than a decade, with Victor Teran taking over the role.
