Cheryl Hines Stands by Husband Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Amid Sexting Scandal

In November 2025, actress Cheryl Hines is opening up about how she and her husband, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., weathered his recent sexting scandal. According to Hines' recently released memoir, Unscripted, the scandal first came to light in September 2024 when Kennedy, who was then campaigning for the 2024 presidential election, warned Hines about a "breaking story" involving a journalist.

The journalist in question was Olivia Nuzzi, then 31, who was placed on leave by New York magazine after reports about her relationship with Kennedy went public. Nuzzi admitted that the "nature of some communication" between herself and Kennedy had "turned personal," though she stated it was never physical.

Hines initially felt "indifference" towards the scandal, as Kennedy had already faced scrutiny for his controversial vaccine views. However, the longer she stayed in Italy, the more unsettled she became, feeling "unimportant" to her husband. Upon returning home, Hines and Kennedy engaged in intense discussions to repair their relationship, "tightening their ties that bind."
