In a recent podcast episode, actor Ted Danson recounted a funny story about his stepson Charlie, Mary Steenburgen's son, walking in on his friends watching one of Steenburgen's nude scenes from the 1980 film Melvin and Howard, for which she won an Oscar. Danson, 77, explained that the 15-year-old Charlie "reamed out" his friend for watching the scene, angrily telling him "That's my mom!"
Actress Kathryn Hahn, 52, could relate to Charlie's experience, as her 19-year-old son Leonard "can't see any of the movies" she has done involving raunchy comedy. Hahn said the thought of her kids watching those films is "a nightmare" and that she and her husband had to fast-forward through an explicit scene in the 2008 movie Step Brothers just to show it to their kids.
Danson also shared that his own mother had a similar reaction when watching his 1981 film Body Heat, keeping her hands over her eyes the entire time. These stories highlight the awkwardness and embarrassment that can arise when actors' children are confronted with their parents' racy on-screen roles.
