The 71-minute feature film 'Erupcja,' directed by Pete Ohs, centers on Bethany, a British protagonist whose life appears to be dictated by volcanic eruptions. She believes a volcano will explode whenever she initiates a breakup for a new fling.
Bethany's boyfriend, Rob, had planned a proposal in Paris, but she rerouted their trip to Warsaw, Poland. Soon after their arrival, Mount Etna erupts, which Bethany interprets as a sign. She subsequently abandons Rob at a party to pursue a new romance with Nel.
This marks Charli XCX's fourth film appearance of the year, following roles at Sundance. 'Erupcja' was developed on the fly, with its four main actors credited as co-writers. The film premiered at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival and has since shown at festivals in Leiden, São Paulo, and Thessaloniki. It was released in theaters on April 17.
