The Rock Garden Society in Chandigarh is commemorating the 101st birth anniversary of Padma Shri Late Nek Chand, the visionary behind the city's world-renowned Rock Garden. A special three-day celebration is scheduled to take place from December 13 to December 15, honoring the artist's profound legacy.
The festivities will commence with traditional rituals, including the lighting of diyas and floral tributes at Nek Chand's wax statue, with the Chief Engineer of the Chandigarh administration as the chief guest. Throughout the event, attendees can experience a diverse array of regional art forms through musical performances, captivating cultural acts like Bazigar and Behrupia, puppet shows, and mesmerizing stick walkers.
The celebration will feature musical performances on December 13 and 14, hosted by the tourism department at Phase-III of the Rock Garden. The grand finale on December 15 promises a spectacular Punjabi folk performance by Feroz Khan, in collaboration with the North Zone Cultural Centre, followed by a prize distribution ceremony. This event is a joint effort by the Rock Garden Society, Chandigarh tourism, and the NZCC, celebrating local culture and art.
