- Sita questions women's identity and work-life balance after marriage

As the 2025 festival season unfolds, the Sector 28 B Ramlila Committee in Chandigarh is using the age-old tradition to drive social change. One compelling scene shows Sita advocating for women's education by endorsing the concept of "gurukul" learning for girls. In another, Ram speaks out against the practice of animal sacrifice (bali pratha), urging people to embrace compassion.
Sita's address to modern-day women is a timeless message emerging from the sands of time. She questions the notion of women losing their identity after marriage and the need to balance duties with individuality. On the second day, the Ramlila staged an exclusive scene in which Janak makes special arrangements for the education of his daughters, including Sita. They used to go to Gurukul in the morning and return in the evening, highlighting the importance of women's education.
The Ramlila also underlined the necessity of women's financial freedom, pointing out that education is the domain of Goddess Saraswati while wealth is the domain of Goddess Lakshmi. Additionally, Lord Ram stood against "bali pratha" when returning from victory, questioning the logic behind the practice of animal sacrifice.
