Stirling will host the highly anticipated Radio 2 in the Park festival, with music legends Chaka Khan and Simple Minds announced as headliners. The event is scheduled to take place in City Park from September 11-13.
This festival marks the first major BBC music event in Scotland in three years, following Radio 1's Big Weekend in Dundee in 2023. The weekend kicks off with a DJ party night on Friday, featuring sets from popular Radio 2 presenters.
Saturday's lineup includes performances by The Script, ABC, Emilie Sandé, Jack Savoretti, Lulu, and Texas, before Chaka Khan takes the stage. Sunday will see Deacon Blue, Level 42, James Blunt, Cast, Blue, and Appleton performing prior to Simple Minds' headline set.
All live performances will be broadcast on Radio 2 and BBC Sounds, with select shows available on iPlayer. Chaka Khan expressed excitement about performing in Stirling, calling it a "magical place." Simple Minds frontman Jim Kerr highlighted the significance of the festival as their only UK gig this year and a precursor to their 50th anniversary.
Tickets for the festival will be available starting Wednesday, June 10, at 08:30. Prices begin at £40 for the Friday pre-party, while Saturday and Sunday tickets start at £84, plus booking fees.
