Chainsaw Man Movie Stumbles in India Debut, Trails Demon Slayer's Blockbuster Opening

On September 27, 2025, the new Japanese anime film "Chainsaw Man - The Movie: Reze Arc" made its debut in India, but it struggled to find an audience on its opening day. The film, based on Tatsuki Fujimoto's popular manga, managed to earn only Rs 0.50 crore, a far cry from the blockbuster performance of the previous anime release, "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba - Infinity Castle," which had raked in a whopping Rs 12.85 crore on its first day.

Despite the slow start, the Chainsaw Man movie is expected to see improved collections over the weekend as it follows the story of Denji, a young man who becomes a devil hunter. The film has been released in both Japanese and Hindi versions in India, catering to a wider audience. However, the opening-day numbers suggest that the film has not yet captured the imagination of Indian moviegoers to the same extent as the Demon Slayer franchise.

The Chainsaw Man movie features the voices of some of the biggest names in the Japanese entertainment industry, including Kikunosuke Toya as Denji, Reina Ueda as Reze, and Fairouz Ai as Power. The film follows Denji's journey as he navigates his life and the ongoing battle between hunters and demons, with the mysterious Reze entering his world and turning everything upside down.
