The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's Office revealed her cause of death was a pulmonary embolism, with rectal cancer listed as the underlying condition. This marks the first public disclosure of O'Hara's cancer diagnosis.
O'Hara's friend, actress Kelly Lynch, shared a poignant moment from the late star's memorial service held earlier this month. Lynch posted a photograph of the service program, which featured a youthful image of O'Hara dressed as a cheerleader. She also shared a poem by Raymond Carver, titled 'Late Fragment,' which reflects on life and love.
Family members stated O'Hara experienced a 'brief illness' before her passing. An ambulance was called to her Los Angeles home in the early morning hours of January 30, and she died in a local hospital. O'Hara was last seen publicly on October 16 of the previous year at the Angel Awards.
