Apple TV+'s "The Studio" is set to address the recent death of its star, Catherine O'Hara, in its upcoming season. Co-creator Seth Rogen described the situation to The Times of London, noting that the show will acknowledge feeling "anchorless" without O'Hara, a sentiment he believes reflects a universal human experience.
Rogen and creative partner Evan Goldberg acknowledged the profound difficulty of continuing production without O'Hara, who played Patty Leigh on the series. They stated that she was written into the show's fabric, making her absence a significant challenge emotionally and creatively, impacting the entire new season.
O'Hara passed away in January at age 71 from a pulmonary embolism and rectal cancer. Rogen shared his deep respect for O'Hara on Instagram, calling "Home Alone" the inspiration for his filmmaking career and expressing that working with her was an honor. He also thanked her in his acceptance speech at the DGA Awards last month.
Last month, O'Hara was posthumously awarded the Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series award at the 2026 Actor Awards. Rogen accepted the trophy on her behalf, stating he knew she would have been honored by the recognition from her fellow performers.
