The Catapult Film Fund has unveiled its 2026 class of Research Fellows, recognizing five talented filmmakers with $10,000 each to advance their documentary projects. This initiative provides essential financial backing during the critical, yet often underfunded, early research stages of film development.
The selected fellows will also receive personalized advisory support. Leading this mentorship is Academy Award-winning producer Diane Becker, known for her work on films like 'Navalny' and 'Tina.' Her expertise will guide the filmmakers as their ideas take shape.
Catapult established the Research Grant program in 2020 to address the scarcity of early-stage support in documentary filmmaking. The program aims to provide filmmakers with the necessary time and space for exploration, fostering creative discovery that shapes a film's direction and impact.
