A new Broadway revival of Tennessee Williams' Pulitzer Prize-winning play, "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof," is slated for a strictly limited engagement in spring 2027. This highly anticipated production is being brought to the stage by producer Seaview and director Sam Gold.
Gold and Seaview have a successful track record, having previously collaborated on "An Enemy of the People" and "Romeo + Juliet." This marks their fifth production together, with Seaview's CEO expressing confidence in Gold's vision to reimagine the timeless characters.
The play, which first premiered on Broadway in 1955, is set in a wealthy Mississippi Delta plantation. It delves into complex family dynamics as an ailing tycoon, Big Daddy Pollitt, contends with his sons and their wives over the estate's future.
"Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" has seen numerous Broadway revivals since its debut, with the last one occurring in 2013. The play was also adapted into a notable 1958 film starring Elizabeth Taylor and Paul Newman.
