A new anthology mystery film, presented as a gothic drama, premiered at the Venice Film Festival on Tuesday. The film is directed and co-written by Oscar-winner Casey Affleck. It is set during a single winter night in 1975, where a mysterious woman named Evelyn arrives at a holiday gathering.
Evelyn recounts multiple stories, including one about an aging hermit who rescues a stranded actress during a 1953 Colorado blizzard. The actress, in turn, tells a tale of a farming couple who harbor a troubled drifter as murders spread across the frontier.
This premiere marks the first red carpet appearance for a lead actor in over seven years, since the 2019 premiere of 'Angel Has Fallen.' The actor has maintained a private life since then, only appearing for project productions.
