Rob and Michele Reiner tragically died on December 14, succumbing to multiple sharp force injuries. The Los Angeles Medical Examiner confirmed the cause of their deaths. Their 32-year-old son, Nick, who has a history of mental health and addiction struggles, was subsequently arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree murder with special circumstances. He has pleaded not guilty to these charges. Following the double homicide, many of the Reiners' renowned friends and colleagues praised them as an exemplary Hollywood couple. Elwes himself previously penned a heartfelt tribute, describing Rob and Michele as a remarkable team who used their influence to champion causes they believed in, particularly assisting marginalized individuals. He fondly recalled their work on "The Princess Bride," highlighting Reiner's dedication to themes of love, loyalty, and sacrifice. Co-star Mandy Patinkin also expressed profound grief, calling the event an "unthinkable tragedy."
