Carrie Coon is gracing the Broadway stage once again in a chilling new production of Tracy Letts' psychological thriller, "Bug." The play, which began previews on December 17, 2025, and officially opened on January 8, 2026, at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre in New York City, sees Coon in her first Broadway role in over a decade.
The production captures Coon as Agnes, a lonely waitress whose fragile perception of reality begins to disintegrate when she encounters a mysterious drifter. Starring opposite Namir Smallwood as a paranoid former soldier, the play delves into psychological horror as their isolation deepens.
This Broadway staging is a transfer from David Cromer's celebrated Steppenwolf Theatre production, which was originally mounted in Chicago in 2020. The ensemble cast, including Randall Arney, Jennifer Engstrom, and Steve Key, has reunited for this Main Stem engagement, bringing Letts' unnerving work to a new audience.
