A new adaptation of Stephen King's debut horror novel, 'Carrie,' is set to premiere on Prime Video in 2026. Showrunner Mike Flanagan is bringing the classic tale into the modern era, featuring smartphones and social media to explore Carrie's isolation and torment. Canadian actress Summer H. Howell stars as the titular character, Carrie White, a bullied high school student who discovers telekinetic powers. Howell avoided watching previous adaptations to create her own unique portrayal.
Samantha Sloyan, known for her work in Flanagan's other projects, will play Margaret White, Carrie's deeply religious and controlling mother. The supporting cast includes Siena Agudong as Sue Snell, Alison Thornton as Chris Hargensen, Joel Oulette as Tommy Ross, and Arthur Conti as Billy Nolan, all embodying reimagined versions of characters from the original story. Original characters, such as Emaline played by Thalía Dudek, are also part of this updated narrative. Amber Midthunder portrays Miss Desjardin, Carrie's gym teacher, offering a different dynamic than in previous adaptations.
