Carney Swaps Davos Grit for Film Gala Fun

Prime Minister Mark Carney recently shifted from a serious address at Davos to a lighter mood at an Ottawa film gala. There, he joined actor Hudson Williams, star of the series 'Heated Rivalry,' on the red carpet. Carney playfully embraced the actor and later spoke about the importance of Canadian storytelling.

He defended the content of 'Heated Rivalry,' which depicts two closeted ice hockey rivals. Carney asserted that Canadian studios are unique in celebrating differences, contrasting with external pressures to dilute such narratives. He emphasized the show's relevance to the ongoing struggles for 2SLGBTQI+ rights in a divided world.

Adding a touch of humor, Carney claimed responsibility for the show's success and its funding. Despite not being in power when the funding was approved, he jested about his role in greenlighting the project and championing it against potential interference.
