Carmen Electra Hesitant to Reprise 'Baywatch' Role in Reboot
29 Sep, 2025
Summary
- Carmen Electra open to joining 'Baywatch' reboot but doesn't want to work in the ocean
- Electra played Lani McKenzie on the original 'Baywatch' series
- Reboot of the iconic 1990s show is in the works, but no new cast announced yet

As the highly anticipated 'Baywatch' reboot moves forward, one former cast member is reluctant to get her feet wet. Carmen Electra, who portrayed the altruistic lifeguard Lani McKenzie on the original series, has expressed reservations about reprising her role in the new production.
Electra, who is currently in talks to join the reboot, recently told TMZ that while the opportunity "could be fun," she's not keen on working in the ocean again. "It's the ocean, you know?" she explained, adding that "working in it is very different" and "very complicated."
The original 'Baywatch' series, which ran from 1989 to 2001, was known for its cast's constant feats of athleticism, from the famous slow-motion beach runs to dramatic ocean rescues. Electra acknowledged that she could handle the iconic slow-motion scenes, saying, "I can definitely do that," and that she still looks great in the signature red swimsuit. However, the prospect of being in the water seems to be a dealbreaker for the actress.
As the 'Baywatch' reboot prepares to hit the small screen, nearly 25 years after the original series ended its 11-season run, fans have been speculating on whether former cast members like Pamela Anderson and David Hasselhoff will return. So far, no new or returning cast has been officially announced.
