World-renowned DJ Carl Cox recently visited Cardiff and was deeply honored by a striking mural created in his honor. The artwork, painted by Welsh artist Steve Jenkins, was unveiled ahead of Cox's performance alongside the iconic dance act The Prodigy at the Utilita Arena.
Cox, known globally for his contributions to electronic dance music, expressed his admiration for the mural, remarking on its accurate portrayal and the artist's considerable effort. Jenkins, a fan of both Cox and The Prodigy, chose a prominent location near the Principality Stadium for his creation.
The mural prominently features Cox's portrait, complete with his signature sunglasses, alongside his famous catchphrase "oh yes, oh yes" and "The Prodigy" in bright lettering. Jenkins completed the piece in a single day, working from an early morning start.
Although Jenkins narrowly missed meeting Cox at the mural site, he attended the subsequent concert and was touched by Cox's positive reaction shared via Instagram. Jenkins anticipates the mural will be temporary, likely remaining for about a month before being replaced by other artworks.
