Lucknow's Residency Hosts Captivating Light and Sound Show on Awadh's History

In Lucknow, the historic Residency is once again the setting for a captivating light and sound show that immerses audiences in the region's storied past. Organized by the tourism department, the 45-minute performance, which began on Diwali, takes viewers on a journey through the history of Awadh, from the arrival of the Nawabs to the 1857 First War of Independence.

The show's script, written by noted Dastango Himanshu Bajpai and actor-poet Danish Hussain, captures the essence of Awadh's poetic refinement, linguistic sweetness, and the generosity of its Nawabs. Through vivid visuals and dramatic narration, the performance also explores Lucknow's rich culture, language, manners, etiquette, and cuisine, as well as the courage and bloodshed of the 1857 uprising.

Audiences are enthralled by the experience of watching this history unfold on the very grounds of the Residency, surrounded by the bullet and cannon marks that bear witness to the past. The show's highlight is the stunning lighting design by Mandala, which uses a laser projector to illuminate the broken walls of the Residency, creating a truly immersive experience for viewers.
