The sixth annual Cannes Screenplay List has been released, showcasing compelling projects from female and non-binary screenwriters in search of producing and financing collaborations. This year marks a significant shift with the introduction of Wscripted+, a new digital platform designed to enhance project matchmaking. This innovative technology aims to reduce lead times for development and financing, allowing producers to discover suitable projects directly. The list features 30 screenplays, including works by Fatimah Asghar and Chloe Abrahams, whose debut narrative feature is set in Sri Lanka. Angelique Knights' directorial debut, set in the music video model world of the 2000s, is also highlighted. Former nominees have seen success, with pre-sales and lead casting announcements, demonstrating the list's impact. This initiative received 300 applications this year, underscoring the demand for platforms supporting underrepresented voices in cinema.
