For the past decade, the Hôtel Barrière Le Majestic has offered a unique cocktail to celebrate the Cannes Film Festival. This year, the hotel's bar manager, Guillermo Pittaluga, crafted 'The Red Stairs' cocktail. This beverage is a tribute to the recognizable red carpet and the steps where significant film moments occur. The drink itself is a blend of tequila infused with the hotel's homegrown immortelle flower, strawberries, red peppers, Campari, and lemongrass and verbena soda. Pittaluga spent six months conceptualizing and two months perfecting the recipe.
The hotel's tradition of creating a festival-themed cocktail began in 2016. The first such creation was the Cosmo Festival, developed by then-head bartender Emanuele Balestra. This earlier cocktail featured Absolut Vodka, Italicus Liqueur, cranberry and lemon juice, and hibiscus extract. The Majestic's proximity to the festival venue has long made it an unofficial hub for attendees.
