The 12th edition of Cannes Critics' Week's Next Step program has chosen ten promising directors to advance their debut feature films. This initiative specifically supports filmmakers who have previously showcased their short films in the section dedicated to emerging talent. The selected participants will engage in an intensive one-week workshop running from December 6 to 12.
This immersive experience begins with script consultations and composer discussions at the Moulin d'Andé artists' residence in Normandy. Following this, the filmmakers will travel to Paris for crucial meetings with French industry professionals. These sessions are designed to foster initial contacts and build vital connections for future collaborations.
Since its inception in 2014, the Next Step program has supported 97 filmmakers from 39 countries, leading to the production of 38 feature films that have premiered at major festivals. One outstanding participant will earn a residency at Moulin d'Andé-CÉCI and the €2,500 Next Step Prize, including an invitation to the Cannes Film Festival.
