Cannes Red Carpet Rules: No Naked Dressing!
14 May
Summary
- Evening wear is required for 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. screenings.
- Nudity and sneakers are prohibited on the red carpet.
- Voluminous outfits that impede traffic are not permitted.

The 2026 Cannes Film Festival maintains its established dress code, prohibiting certain trends on the red carpet, including "naked dressing." Screenings at the Grand Théâtre Lumière, particularly those at 7 p.m. and 10 p.m., mandate "evening wear." This includes long dresses or tuxedos, though cocktail dresses and dark pantsuits are also permitted.
For the sake of decency and to comply with French law, nudity is strictly forbidden on the red carpet and throughout the festival venue. The festival also prohibits voluminous outfits that may obstruct guest flow and seating arrangements. Acceptable footwear includes elegant shoes or sandals, while sneakers and large bags are not allowed.
