A significant piece of Star Wars history, a light-up C-3PO head from the 1980 film "The Empire Strikes Back," sold for an impressive $1,058,400 at a recent auction.
This prop was the star attraction at the Spring Entertainment Memorabilia Live Auction held by Propstore in Los Angeles. It is the only known example of C-3PO's head to be available on the collector market.
The auction, which took place on Wednesday, March 26, 2026, saw strong bidding for various film and TV memorabilia. The total fetched on the first day of bidding was $6.5 million.
Other high-value items included the harpoon gun from "Jaws," which sold for $327,600, and Tom Hanks's Wilson volleyball from "Cast Away," which brought in $189,000.
Brandon Alinger, Propstore's chief operating officer, expressed satisfaction with the strong start to the auction, highlighting the enduring appeal of Star Wars and "Jaws" material.
The auction is set to continue, with the final day on March 27, 2026, dedicated to animation memorabilia.
