Summary
- Buckingham Palace now displays 120 paintings, up from 63.

Visitors to Buckingham Palace this summer can now experience an enhanced display of art in the Picture Gallery. The number of paintings exhibited has nearly doubled, increasing from 63 to 120.
This extensive rehang involved 875 hours of work, incorporating new emerald-green silk wall hangings and improved lighting. The initiative aligns with the Royal Collection's aim to share its treasures widely.
Originally designed for George IV's collection, the gallery saw its first paintings hung under Queen Victoria. Today, it serves as a venue for hosting dignitaries and royal events, attracting over half a million visitors annually.
Notable artworks now on display include "The Tribuna of the Uffizi" by Johan Zoffany and "A Rough Dog" by George Stubbs. A recent addition is a 2023 oil portrait of King Charles III by Jonathan Yeo. The Picture Gallery is accessible as part of Buckingham Palace's Summer Opening, with tickets available via the Royal Collection Trust.
