BTS member Kim Taehyung, known as V, has revealed a personal health challenge: significant hearing loss in his right ear, a condition he has managed for over two and a half years. He shared that his hearing capacity in the right ear is only about 30% compared to his left.

V's hearing issues reportedly escalated during his military service. Initially, he attributed the symptoms to fatigue, a common oversight that can delay crucial medical attention for unilateral hearing changes. This experience highlights the potential for subtle, one-sided hearing loss to be dismissed as temporary.

Medical professionals emphasize that unilateral hearing loss requires timely evaluation, as causes can range from treatable issues like earwax or infections to more complex conditions affecting the inner ear or auditory nerve. Persistent or unexplained hearing differences should be assessed by an ENT specialist.

Treatment strategies are tailored to the specific cause of hearing loss. Options include steroid treatments for sudden sensorineural hearing loss, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, CROS hearing aids for significant loss, and cochlear implants for severe, permanent cases. Early diagnosis and intervention are key to managing the condition effectively.
